Lifeguard Job Description

Lifeguard Position
 
Duties and Responsibilities

​

  • Maintains constant surveillance of patrons on the association property; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency.

  • Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.

  • Presents professional appearance and attitude, always, and maintains a high standard of customer service.

  • If WSI – perform swim instruction,

    • If non-WSI - be prepared to assist WSI guards with swim lesson instruction.

  • Prepares and maintains appropriate activity reports.

  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by Beach Director or Head Lifeguard.

Minimum Job Requirements

​

  • CPR/AED Certified; Current certification as Lifeguard by a recognized source of training. Must be able to provide copy of original document.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

​

  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

  • Skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques.

  • Ability to pass pre-employment physical skills evaluation as stipulated by the Beach Director.

  • Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.

  • Knowledge of CPR /AED and emergency medical procedures.

  • Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.

  • Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.

  • WSI a plus

Head Lifeguard Position
 
Duties and Responsibilities

In addition to the above mentioned Lifeguard duties and responsibilities,
this role involves managerial responsibilities.

 

​​Minimum Job Requirements

In addition to the above mentioned Lifeguard requirements:

  • 3 or more years of lifeguarding experience

  • Must be available for weekend shifts 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

In addition to the above mentioned Lifeguard knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • WSI or Lifeguard Instructor certifications

  • Leadership/managerial experience​
